Courier Audit

Regional and gig couriers deliver 10-30% of last-mile volume for most shippers but rarely get audited — the rate cards are contract addenda rather than structured tariffs, and the billing quirks are different on every carrier. Courier Audit fixes that: agent-driven rate interpretation plus six courier-specific rules that most parcel audit tools miss.

Unified audit dashboard showing courier audit rolled up alongside parcel, LTL, and FTL

How it works

  1. 1 Connect your carriers. OnTrac, LaserShip, Spee-Dee, and LSO have portals the platform logs into on schedule. Eastern Connection, CDL Last Mile, and Courier Express don't — they get a per-connection Mailgun inbound email address; forward billing emails there and the platform ingests the attachments automatically.
  2. 2 Upload your rate cards. Contract addenda, per-customer riders, free-text pricing exceptions — the agent handles all of it. Riders REPLACE base rates (not sum), free-text exceptions get flagged for human review, per-carrier accessorial names are preserved exactly so the audit matches them character-for-character.
  3. 3 Invoices audit automatically. Every ingested invoice runs through the audit agent with the courier-aware prompt supplement. Findings land in the same review queue as parcel audit findings — filter by courier_* to isolate them.
  4. 4 Confirm + file claims. Same workflow as parcel audit — confirm → filed → resolved. Missing pickup credits + RTS credits feed into the same carrier claim pipeline.

Six new audit rules

  • courier_zone_mismatch — billed zone doesn't match the carrier's published zone chart for the destination ZIP.
  • courier_phantom_accessorial — carrier billed a surcharge the contract waives or doesn't list.
  • courier_missing_pickup_credit — failed pickup + no credit despite the contract specifying one.
  • courier_return_to_sender_billing — returned shipment billed at full delivery rate without the contracted RTS credit.
  • courier_per_stop_package_mismatch — per-stop carriers (CDL / Courier Express) billed for more stops than distinct tracking numbers support.
  • courier_duplicate_invoice — same tracking number on two invoices.

Carriers supported today

  • OnTrac (west coast regional)
  • LaserShip (east coast regional)
  • Spee-Dee Delivery (upper Midwest)
  • LSO (Texas + neighbors)
  • Eastern Connection (northeast)
  • CDL Last Mile (gig)
  • Courier Express (NE + Mid-Atlantic)
  • Any future carrier added to the registry

What you share with Parcel Audit

  • Audit Review queue — one queue for all finding types; filter by courier_* when triaging regional-carrier issues.
  • Claims workflow — the same claim_eligible → filed → resolved lifecycle with per-carrier filing windows.
  • Tracking + OTD — every connected courier carrier's shipments get the same map visibility and on-time scoring.
  • Customer Invoicing — pass markup-adjusted courier shipment charges through to your downstream customers (3PL brokerage pattern).
